Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
I woke up this morning and decided that I needed to step out of the comfort zone of my normal morning smoothie and be a little adventurist I mean after all it is St. Patrick’s Day and I have no plans for hitting any pubs at all today for Green Beer as I have to attend a community Beef Supper followed by running our oldest son to his last hockey practice of the Winter Season (insert happy dance).
I want to inform you that secretively I do not care a whole lot for the flavor of raw spinach. I have used it before in a few salads and I puree it with Kale & Banana to make my Green Freezer Cubes however I really don’t care for it on its own so I was leery about trying this recipe. I almost chickened out until my 12 yr old daughter and my husband asked me where the Green Smoothie they heard me talking about was. So I went into Mama Mode and whipped this baby up!
SUCCESS!!! I was absolutely shocked at how delicious this Shamrock Shake was. I thoroughly enjoyed it and could not believe that it contained a full serving of Greens thanks to the Spinach that gave it the natural Green Color. It was so good that when my daughter got home form school she asked if I could make her a snack sized Shamrock Smoothie? Done…I just halved each ingredient and Whamoo, Snack Size Shamrock Shake for after school snack!
Want to give this Green Smoothie a test? Here is the recipe I followed:
2 scoops (or one packet) Shaklee Life Energizing Shake, Vanilla
1 cup fresh spinach
4 oz. vanilla yogurt
1/2 tsp peppermint extract
8 oz milk of choice
Compliments to Rebecca Heriz for coming up with this recipe!
