The World of Personalizing Word Press…

Wow, what an interesting trip the past few months have been in trying to get a personalized Word Press blog up and running.  So I do not feel I am just there yet but let me share with you what I have learned.

See back in October of 2010 (as you can see by my previous post) I decided to venture out into the world of Word Press blogging.  In the past I had used Blogger but as described before, it was time to move to Word Press.  The challenge became that I wanted a personalized blog that felt like me!

Sounds easy right?  Well not so much in the route I took.  First I tried to google and see if someone could teach me how to complete this task.  Unfortuanlty I did not find the help I was looking for, however I did learn about the company oDeskoDesk is a great opportunity to find people to outsource your work however I had a few bad experiences off the start.  The first person I hired just was not on the same train of thought as I was and after many back and forth attempts I cancelled our contract with nothing to show for the money spent.  The lesson learned here, only do these type of jobs for a fixed price not on an hourly rate!

Next I reposted my job on oDesk and re hired.  This time I was very excited about the person I had hired however soon after the individual I hired had some health issues and had to cancel our contract.  Luckily this time at no cost to me!

Now do not base these two experiances on everyone in oDesk.  There are some amazing individuals in there that you can hire to do almost anything, I just had not been lucky in my first 2 attempts at getting myself a personalized Who Is Jackie Aellen blog.

So a few more months past me by and still no blog.  However I did take the step to have some professional head shots taken of myself to help give me an online branded image to use on all my website and trainings.  Once I got my photos back I started playing around again with Word Press.

To my surprise in less than an hour I had what you see here currently (unless I have updated things since this post lol) Perfect?  No, but better than nothing and to what I had before.  So now starts the process to learn how to add all the widgets thingys (I really do not understand this part YET!)  and materials I want to be able to teach and share with the online community.

So that is where I am at.  excited to have gotten to where I have but know I am far from my finished product.  Ok I know, there is no such thing as a finished product when it comes to blogging but at least something that contains the info I am waiting to get shared.
